How to Use the Chinese Calendar for Baby Gender

Many people use the Chinese calendar to predict the gender of their baby. It’s a method based on your age and the month you conceived. The calendar is said to have been discovered in a royal tomb in China over 700 years ago.

Here’s how you can use it:

Step 1: Find Your Lunar Age

Your lunar age is different from your regular age. To get it, you need to add 1 or 2 years to your current age. Here’s how:

  • If you were born between January 1 and February 20, add 2 years to your age.
  • If you were born after February 20, add 1 year.

This gives you your lunar age.

Step 2: Note the Conception Month

Next, you’ll need to know the month when you conceived. Make sure to use the Chinese lunar months. The Chinese New Year doesn’t always start on January 1st, so check a lunar calendar to know when the months begin and end.

Step 3: Look at the Chinese Gender Chart

Now that you have your lunar age and the month of conception, use the Chinese gender chart.

  • On the left side, find your lunar age.
  • On the top, find the month you conceived.

Where the two meet, you’ll see a result – either boy or girl. That’s your predicted baby gender.
